Towards a Literate Culture...

Literacy is part of our school's culture -- both inside and outside the classroom.  It is more than just reading and writing.  Being literate enables one to effectively communicate in society, it enables a full participation in life.

At Maple HS we strive to make our students globally literate by giving them, the tools to succeed in the various demands of our global culture.  We empower students to become successful writers and readers, we build numeracy skills, we foster science, art and technological literacy.  We see the need to make our students media literate in this media driven world.  It is the literate student who succeeds.  The literate student effectively solves problem both in and outside the classroom.
